A look inside the CNN debate... |

I thought it would be a good idea if I were to take a couple
of minutes and write a small blog post about my experiences leading up to the
debate last Thursday.
Being that it was my first time experiencing a debate up close and personal, it
was pretty exciting for me to be involved in some of the processes leading up
to our historic debate.
In the days leading up to the debate, I frequently found myself walking through
areas of the Cox Pavilion, or various other locations on campus, and inadvertently
stumbling across people that I never would have thought I would see beyond the
Television screen or the periodic news article. Individuals like Wolf Blitzer,
Candy Crowley, Campbell Brown, John Roberts, and Suzanne Malveaux, to name a
few, stood out as people that I was very excited to see.
In addition, some other notables including national labor leaders like Linda
Chavez-Thompson, Anna Burger, and Gerry McEntee were also on hand, which was a great thing for me to see, having been the son of a union stagehand
throughout my life.
However, the single most exciting portion of the debate was seeing our state of
Nevada being
highlighted by national media. With over 300 media having been credentialed for
the debate, it was nice to see Nevada
garner a fair amount of national attention during the course of last week.
Waking up in the morning and having my Bloglines assault me with hundreds of
stories revolving around the debate, and our early caucus, was a nice site to
see, indeed.
All in all, without delving into a discussion of the content of the debate
itself, I was very impressed with the execution of the debate and was glad that
I could be a part of this historic moment in Nevada's political history.
