Reid Welcomes Candidates to Nevada for Thursday's Debate
U.S. Senator Harry Reid of Nevada issued the following statement welcoming the Presidential candidates to Nevada for Thursday's debate to air on CNN.
"Like all Nevadans, I am excited about Thursday's Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas.
"I am so pleased with the level of activity our state has seen among all the Democratic candidates. By building campaign organizations in Nevada and traveling to places like Elko, Pahrump, Reno, Las Vegas, and other Nevada cities and towns, they have made it clear that our state will play a major role in selecting the Democratic nominee. And it should. Nevada is the first test of the West and the first test of the Hispanic vote. The debate builds on the high level of activity our state has already seen and provides another opportunity for the candidates to speak directly to Western voters and discuss the issues that are important to Nevada, like Yucca Mountain. Because of Nevada's influential position, we will have a Democratic presidential nominee who opposes the dump.
"I encourage every Nevadan to watch Thursday's debate, register to vote, and participate in the caucuses on January 19th."
