Despite all of Jon Porter’s political maneuvering to distance himself from President Bush, he indicated in today’s Las Vegas Review-Journal that he supports Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who is running to extend a third Bush term and the war in Iraq.

In today’s Review-Journal, Porter cited McCain’s support for the war as one of the reasons McCain would make a strong candidate.  [http://www.lvrj.com/news/15436796.html]

In January, McCain said it “would be fine with me” if the United States stays in Iraq for the next 100 years. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFknKVjuyNk]  After the town hall meeting in New Hampshire, McCain told a reporter "that U.S. troops could be in Iraq for 'a thousand years' or 'a million years,' as far as he was concerned." “Nevadans want to bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq, but John McCain and Jon Porter are happy to extend the war for generations to come,” said Kirsten Searer, deputy executive director of the Nevada Democratic Party.  “It’s time for a change of course in Iraq and a change of leadership in the White House.”

Bush's disapproval rating worst of any president in 70 years

An article in the USA Today highlighted a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll that shows only 28% of Americans approving of the job George W. Bush is doing; 69% disapprove.

The author, Susan Page, also indicated that the disapproval rating is "the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll."
