Reno, NV – The Cook Political Report, an independent non-partisan publication that analyzes campaigns across the country, has upgraded the competitiveness of Nevada's 2nd Congressional District from a “solid Republican” district to  “likely Republican.”

The Cook Political Report noted in it’s write-up on the race that “the poor national climate for the GOP and the DCCC's unprecedented financial edge" makes this district "worth keeping tabs on."

"This change is a sign of growing momentum in Jill Derby's campaign for change," said Derby Campaign Manager David Mason.  "It's beginning to become clear across the nation that Dean Heller's extremist voting record has disappointed many Nevadans who expected a more moderate, independent voice in Congress.

Nevada's 2nd Congressional District is one of more than twenty Republican-held House seats that moved from the Solid Republican to Likely Republican category, typically the most difficult change for a district once considered "safe" to make.
