Democratic voter advantage strengthens
LAS VEGAS — After months of intense voter registration by the Nevada Democratic Party, Democratic presidential campaigns and other organizations, new voter registration reports from September show that Nevada Democrats continue to build a lead in the number of active registered Democrats in the state.
Democrats now outnumber Republicans by 4,117 active voters.
This year’s voter registration reports mark the first time in 15 years that Democrats have held a consistent lead over Republicans in the number of active registered voters.
Some of the most significant numbers come from Congressional District 3, where Democrats continue to build a lead in a district expected to be one of the most competitive in the country. Democrats now hold a 6,300 voter advantage over Republicans, indicating that the district is trending Democratic for the first time ever.
“Democrats are on the move in Nevada. We are busy registering Democrats in preparation for our presidential caucus in January,” said Democratic Party Chair Jill Derby. “These numbers show that Nevadans are ready for a change of leadership in the White House, and we’ll have an opportunity to help make that change when we caucus in January.”
