WELCOME BAAAAAACK!
(LAS VEGAS, Nev.) -- The Nevada State Democratic Party would like to welcome Governor Jim Gibbons back from his sabbatical to the most important election of our lifetimes. After being passed over as McCain’s state campaign chair in favor of Lt. Gov. Krolicki, Gibbons suddenly left the election scene.
Gibbons recently made a rare appearance in his office, inserting himself into the election process only nine days before early voting begins. However, rather than using his office as Governor to reassure Nevadans of the integrity of their vote, Gibbons wrote a letter questioning the competence of election workers, who are trained and working hard to handle the expected huge turnout of voters this month and in November.
“While Democrats reassured voters they have complete confidence in the integrity of our election process, Gibbons spoke for Republicans by invoking fearful partisan rhetoric, and demonstrating his ignorance of Nevada election procedures,” said Travis Brock, Executive Director of the Nevada State Democratic Party.
“Despite Gibbons’ sudden interest in learning more about our election process, Nevadans would be best served if he resumed his low profile and left the election in the hands of the trained public servants charged with conducting it,” Brock continued. “Rather than preparing a book report for the governor on procedures that he should already understand, election officials should be left alone to ensure a fair, legal and efficient vote.”
