Nevada Democrats unveiled a Web site that chronicles Jim Gibbons' many failings as Nevada's governor
Nevada Democrats unveiled a Web site today that chronicles Jim Gibbons' exploits while he was running for governor and the subsequent 19 months of botched nominations, secrecy and paranoia, phone texting stories, flip flops, calls for resignation and other scandals.
"Jim Gibbons has been through so many scandals that he probably can't keep track of them, but www.AmericasWorstGovernor.com will be a resource for voters who want to know what's going on with the top elected official in the state," said Travis Brock, executive director of the Nevada Democratic Party.
"Media has reported that Gibbons' various gaffes have been so steady that he has been distracted from his work as governor -- and we certainly see that in the lack of ideas and leadership he has shown so far," Brock said. "It's important that Nevadans have a method of keeping track of the governor's ignominious coverage in local, national and international media, and that we can ask, ’if he's not working in his office on behalf of the people, where is he?'"
The Web site includes a comprehensive timeline of Gibbons' various scandals and embarrassments in office, from a plagiarized speech his gave in Elko while running for office to the controversial property tax break he scored after reportedly pressuring the Elko County Assessor.
It also includes some of Gibbons' most famous quotes, plus a way for Nevadans to "text" Gibbons with their thoughts. Nevadans who see Gibbons spending more time outside of the governor's office than working for the people also can email the Gibbons Locater Crew with their pictures and videos.
"Governor Gibbons has one of the lowest approval ratings in the country for a good reason -- he has made fumble after fumble, and it is affecting his performance at a time when Nevada families need him most," Brock said. "We want this Web site to be a resource for Nevadans who are concerned about these lapses in judgment and lack of leadership."
