Nevada continued to trend blue for the 11th month in a row, according to November’s voter registration reports.  Active registered Democrats now outnumber active registered Republicans by more than 10,000 voters statewide, and Democrats hold a 8,400-person voter registration advantage in the targeted Congressional District 3.

“We’re seeing a shift in Nevada politics from ‘red’ to ‘purple,’ and Democrats aren’t stopping yet,” said Nevada Democratic Party Chair Jill Derby.  “The January 19th caucuses are creating a buzz that could put our state in the Democratic column for years to come.”

Republicans held a 5,000-voter advantage in the 2006 general election, and the last year marks the first major Democratic registration advantage in 15 years.  Nevada Democrats attribute the shift to the organizing that the state party, presidential campaigns and affiliated groups are doing for the January 19th presidential caucus, which is just 44 days away.

Bush's disapproval rating worst of any president in 70 years

An article in the USA Today highlighted a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll that shows only 28% of Americans approving of the job George W. Bush is doing; 69% disapprove.

The author, Susan Page, also indicated that the disapproval rating is "the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll."
