Dems advantage grows in Congressional District Three.
Democrats now hold the strongest voter registration advantage ever in Congressional District 3, which has traditionally been a “toss-up” district.
Democrats have increased voter registration efforts throughout the state in anticipation of the Jan. 19th presidential caucus, and the results have been especially fruitful in Congressional District 3.
August voter registration reports show that 5,765 more active Democrats than Republicans are registered in CD3, which includes areas of Henderson, Laughlin, Boulder City, Las Vegas and Summerlin.
The district will be one of the top targets in the nation for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Nevada Democratic Party in 2008. Already national Democrats have targeted the district with ads talking about the need for a change of course in Iraq and a national effort to decrease the number of uninsured people.
“These numbers are incredible. For the first time since it was created, Congressional District 3 is trending solidly Democratic with a healthy population of non-partisan voters,” said Nevada Democratic Party Chair Jill Derby. “The problem is the district’s congressman, Jon Porter, does not offer independent leadership. He is a ‘yes man’ for the Bush administration on the war in Iraq, health care and economic development. Residents of CD3 deserve an independent voice.”
