Democratic Voter Registrations Surpass Republicans in Washoe County
IT’S OFFICIAL: WASHOE IS DEMOCRATIC
(RENO, Nev.)—According to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office, the majority of voters in Washoe County are now registered Democrats. There are 90,218 registered Democrats and 89,842 registered Republicans—a Democratic advantage of 376 voters. This stands in stark contrast to the close of voter registration in 2006, when Republicans in Washoe County held a registration advantage of more than 16,000.
“It is remarkable that in two short years, a significant Republican voter registration advantage in Washoe County has been wiped out,” said Sam Lieberman, Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party. “It’s clear that voters in Washoe County and across Nevada are ready for change. I want to congratulate all the Democrats who have been organizing for the past two years. We are reaping the benefits of Nevada’s early caucuses, and the unprecedented importance of this year’s elections at all levels of the ticket.”
The deadline for in-person registration at the County Clerk’s or Registrar of Voters’ office is tomorrow, October 14th.
