Nevada is seeing record turnout and unprecedented grassroots enthusiasm for our presidential candidates, and eyes are already turning to the 2008 Democratic National Convention – to be held in Denver from August 25-28.

“The historic level of interest and enthusiasm we’ve seen here in Nevada is consistent with what our Party is experiencing all over the country,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Sam Lieberman. “The message voters are sending is clear – they’re energized and ready to work hard to put a Democrat in the White House. The 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver will be Nevada’s opportunity to showcase our commitment to that effort and help put our nominee on the path to victory in November.”

The 2008 Democratic National Convention is expected to pump an estimated $160 million into the Denver area’s economy and draw approximately 35,000 visitors to the region, including 15,000 members of the media.

Nevada media wishing to follow our state’s delegation at the 2008 Democratic National Convention must apply for credentials by April 15.  The attached memo outlines more details for media wishing to cover the convention.  For more information on application procedures for media credentials, workspace and housing, visit http://demconvention.com/press-logistics/ .

Any additional questions about the credentialing process should be directed to the Democratic National Convention Committee’s (DNCC) Media Operations office at (720) 362-2008.

Bush's disapproval rating worst of any president in 70 years

An article in the USA Today highlighted a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll that shows only 28% of Americans approving of the job George W. Bush is doing; 69% disapprove.

The author, Susan Page, also indicated that the disapproval rating is "the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll."
